TMJ
is a fairly common condition that
can cause a lot of pain for some and just make life difficult for
others. This condition is characterized by pain and/or
clicking when the jaw is opened or closed. This can also offset
the jaw so that the teeth don't line up which makes it very difficult
to eat.
Many doctors will tell you that
this disorder comes mainly from clenching your jaw. While it may be
true that the disorder can come from the clenching of the jaw, I have
found that it often comes from either a misalignment in some other
body structure or from an injury that has resulted in a myofascial
restriction residing either around the jaw or elsewhere in the body.
If TMJ comes with or from jaw clenching this can cause more pain and
even more issues.
The good news is that
myofascial release has proven very effective at relieving the
restrictions that lead to TMJ. Even clenching your jaw usually has a
fascial component that can be changed through myofascial release. I
personally have seen TMJ
come from many different areas such as misaligned hips. A
skilled myofascial release therapist will usually start by working on
the jaw and will then be able to follow the restriction to its
source. Once the source is treated the body can then return to
it's normal function. Myofascial release could be your drug and surgery
free way to healing from TMJ. Many people have found lasting change
from this treatment. You can too! Click the contact us button
